Are there any techniques to improve the speed and effectiveness of my article writing?

My writing is above average, though I began without structured guidance or advice. There may be gaps in my approach that impact efficiency.

I welcome any recommendations for strategies to improve my writing process.

I open multiple tabs on the topic, spend about 40% of my time perfecting the intro, then organize ideas under different headings and rewrite the rest in my own words using various sources. Finally, I add a conclusion, and it’s done.

Here's a simple guide with helpful tips to write a good article quickly:
  1. Keep a list of ideas ready. Writer's block can strike anytime, so it's helpful to have a list of topics for news articles or personal stories that could become essays. Whenever you get an idea, write it down in a notebook or on your computer. Then, when it's time to write, you’ll have a starting point.
  2. Remove distractions. Many people say they work better while multitasking, but that’s often not true, especially if you want to write an article quickly. Good writing needs your full attention. Before starting, turn off the TV and mute social media to focus only on writing.
  3. Research smartly. Research is key for any writing, but it’s easy to spend too much time on it and too little on drafting. When looking for facts or stats to back up your points, use specific search terms. If you can’t find what you need, consider changing your thesis or topic.
  4. Keep it simple. Readers have short attention spans, so it’s best to keep your article clear and concise. Setting a word limit can help you finish faster and focus on key points without extra fluff.
  5. Write in bullet points. Bullet points help organize your thoughts and speed up writing. Plus, articles with bullet points often get more traffic, as search engines prioritize them. Bullet points not only save time but also improve your article's chances of reaching your audience.
  6. Edit after writing. A common mistake is editing while writing, which can slow you down and stop you from finishing the article. Good writers separate writing and editing. Once you finish the article, then focus on perfecting the intro, improving the first paragraph, or adding a strong ending.
  7. Set a timer. To write faster and more efficiently, try writing with a timer. Set it for 30 minutes and see how much you can finish. You'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish in just half an hour of focused writing.
Follow these steps, and you'll write articles faster.

Keep practicing typing to improve speed and output. You might also try using voice recognition software.

For “info” articles, the more you know about the topic, the less research you’ll need. Sticking to topics you’re comfortable with can even help you avoid research altogether.

Confidence also plays a big role - the more you write, the more you'll trust your skills. I now spend less time editing because I’m more confident in my writing style and make fewer mistakes, which saves time.

With practice, you’ll naturally become a faster, better writer.

Research and note-taking are essential.

One common challenge for writers early on is producing articles without enough information. Spending time reading up on your subject helps a lot.

For example, I write in a few niches where I know the topic well, so I can finish an article in 30–40 minutes without pausing to research. However, in a new niche, it can take hours per article if I try to research and write at the same time. I find it’s better to spend a couple of hours learning the topic and taking notes first. With those notes, I can create multiple articles because I’m writing from memory, not constantly checking sources.

This approach also reduces the risk of plagiarism, as I’m not directly referencing material while writing.
