Check my paper for plagiarism before I turn it in (free or paid)

I'm about to submit my research paper and want to check for plagiarism. My university uses Turnitin, and in the past, it has flagged my papers for plagiarism even though I didn’t copy anything. Other students have experienced the same issue.

I need a best plagiarism checker that can handle long documents. A paid option is fine.

Please don’t tell me not to worry if I haven’t plagiarized - I just don’t fully trust these tools and want to double-check myself.

What’s the most reliable way to check for plagiarism besides TurnItIn?

You probably already know the advice you're going to get ("If you haven't plagiarized, you shouldn't worry"), so let me offer a different perspective. What if you run your research paper through a plagiarism checker and then submit it, only for your university to find that the exact same paper has already been submitted elsewhere? They might flag it as 100% copied, causing more problems than if you hadn't checked it yourself... assuming you didn't plagiarize, of course.

Turnitin can sometimes flag content that isn’t actually plagiarized, so it’s wise to be cautious. For a more reliable check, I recommend using plagiarism checkers from academic writing services that don’t store your document in their databases, ensuring your work remains private.

GradeMiners offers a solid plagiarism checker that handles long documents and doesn’t store your content in their database. You can check your work for free up to 1500 words, which is great if you have shorter sections to check.

Another good option is EssayPro, which provides a free plagiarism check for documents up to 3000 words. It’s a great choice if your paper is a bit longer.

Both options give you a thorough report, and you can be confident that your document will stay private.

I'll be blunt: after a couple of decades in academia, if you need to check your paper for plagiarism, there’s likely too much of it.

If every word is truly yours, you wouldn’t need to check.

If you're unsure, double-check to make sure everything is either your own or properly quoted and cited.

Also, you should ensure that the article you are about to submit has not been published anywhere yet. If it has been published and you have committed plagiarism... well, that’s a serious issue.

Plagiarism checkers work by comparing your paper to existing content in databases or online. If they find too many matches, they flag the text as possible plagiarism. However, a human should always review the results, as common phrases can lead to false matches. Additionally, if the original source isn’t in the database or online, plagiarism may go undetected.

The best way to avoid plagiarism is to create original content. I don’t recommend specific tools, but if you use one, ensure it excludes properly quoted text to prevent false matches.
