Everyone agrees that SEO has always been a powerful way to gain visibility. But now, with the rise of popular AI tools like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and others, the question is: how can we gain visibility on these platforms?

We already know how to use SEO to boost visibility. But what should we focus on to increase our presence in AI tools?

Visibility in tools like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Perplexity is emerging as the next big challenge for marketers and SEO experts. Some effective strategies I’ve noticed include:
  • Building digital authority by publishing on high-authority websites, as AI models tend to draw information from trusted sources.
  • Optimizing structured data to help AI better understand and contextualize your content.
  • Focusing on brand promotion, since large language models are more likely to recognize and prioritize well-known brands.

Recently, I came across an SEO case study that demonstrated how to rank in the top spot for the keyword “best” in the Gemini chatbot by leveraging an article on a trusted resource.

Here’s what was done:
  1. An article was published on a DR69 website with 75k monthly traffic. It featured a list in which their own site was mentioned in the top position.
  2. That article eventually ranked first on Google for the targeted keyword.
  3. Two additional articles were then published on other trusted sites, both of which also reached the top 10.
In total, three articles mentioned the target site as the best.

The original article also clearly explained why the site deserved to be ranked as the best, which helped the chatbot pull data from it.

As a result, Gemini began recommending the service and listed it as the #1 option in its responses.

If you want AI tools like ChatGPT to show your products, it’s important to make your website easy for them to understand. These tools use their own bots (like OpenAI’s oaibot) to scan websites - they don’t rely on Google Shopping feeds or anything like that. That means your site’s content really matters.

Make sure your product pages clearly explain what you're selling. Try to include:
  • Features
  • Specifications
  • Benefits
  • Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • Common use cases
The more detailed and helpful your pages are, the better your chances of appearing in AI results.

Use schema markup to tag key information like price, brand, availability, and reviews. This helps AI tools and search engines understand your content more accurately.

Real customer reviews are especially important. Add them to your product pages - and include them in your schema markup as well. This can help you:
  • Get picked up by AI tools
  • Show up in Google’s free product listings
  • Build trust with potential buyers
AI tools also gather information from across the web - like YouTube, forums, LinkedIn, and social media. So it's smart to be active on multiple platforms. The more trusted and visible your brand is online, the more likely it is that AI will recommend you.
